Schoolyard Stories:End of Week Two – growing with every class, learning with every moment.
The second week of my teaching practice at GHSS Kilimanur was filled with new experiences, deeper learning, and growing confidence as a teacher.
The second week of teaching practice gave me wider exposure and greater confidence in my role as a teacher. I continued handling regular classes and also got the opportunity to take a senior class as a substitution teacher, which helped me experience a different level of classroom dynamics. By using simple examples, questions, and discussions, I tried to make lessons interactive and engaging. Students participated actively, and this encouraged me to experiment with different ways of communication. The experience of managing a new group of learners improved my classroom management skills and taught me the importance of adaptability in teaching.
Beyond subject teaching, I became more involved in the everyday life of the school. Morning prayers, thought for the day, and cultural or co-curricular activities gave me the chance to observe and understand the broader responsibilities of a teacher. I also shared small duties with teachers, interacted with students outside the classroom, and slowly became a familiar part of the school community. My bond with students deepened as they began to approach me freely with doubts and conversations. The guidance from my mentor teachers during this week helped me refine my presentation style, improve interaction, and become more confident in lesson delivery. Altogether, the week enriched my teaching practice by balancing classroom learning with active participation in school life.
This week not only strengthened my bond with students but also reaffirmed my belief that teaching is my true passion.
