Schoolyard-Stories Phase 2 .Week Two: Small moments, big learnings

Image
This week at GHSS Kilimanur was a meaningful blend of academics, activities, and personal learning experiences. The Ranger–Rover storyboard activity set an energetic start, engaging students in creative expression and group collaboration.  .My sessions with XI C1 were productive and well-organised, and handling substitution classes for XI C2 gave me additional opportunities to interact with more students and observe diverse classroom dynamics. The overall rhythm of teaching and learning felt balanced and encouraging. As the week progressed, the school atmosphere shifted into a more reflective tone with the organisation of a health check-up camp and an awareness session exclusively for teachers. These initiatives emphasised the significance of self-care and wellness among educators. At the same time, the commencement of the Ranger–Rover three-day camp brought a vibrant spirit to the campus, with students actively participating in various activities. Regular classes continued smoothl...

Schoolyard Stories – Phase 2: Week 1

Image
The second phase of practice teaching began with renewed excitement and confidence. On the first day, we met the Principal and handed over the official letter. We also signed the attendance register in his presence, marking the formal beginning of this new phase.  In the school, a spacious reading room was specially allotted for us, which soon became our hub of ideas and teamwork. It was there that we prepared lesson plans, created teaching aids, discussed classroom strategies, and reflected on our teaching experiences each day. After that, we proceeded to our allotted classroom, Plus One Commerce (C1), where students greeted us warmly. It was a joyful moment to meet them again after a short break. During the week, we prepared our teaching aids, revised lesson plans, and began handling classes according to the allotted portions. The lessons were started with enthusiasm, and the students actively participated in discussions and classroom activities. The school closed early on one...

Beginning of Second Phase Teaching Practice!  Today marks the beginning of my Second Phase of Teaching Practice, a new chapter in my journey as a teacher trainee. After a short break, stepping once again into the school environment feels like coming home — to the same classrooms, familiar faces, and the warmth of learning that never fades. The first phase taught me lessons beyond textbooks — about patience, responsibility, and the joy of connecting with young minds. Now, as I begin this second phase, I carry those experiences with renewed confidence and a stronger sense of purpose. This time, my goal is not just to teach concepts, but to inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence among my students. As I entered the school premises today, I felt a blend of excitement and responsibility. The sight of students greeting teachers, the morning prayers, and the buzz of the first bell reminded me why teaching is a calling, not just a profession. I’m grateful for another opportunity to s...
