First step into the world of teaching. Excited, nervous, and ready!"
Day 01 Teaching Practice
GOVERNMENT MODEL HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL KILIMANUR ..
As part of our B.Ed. curriculum, we began our practice teaching phase at Govt. Model Higher Secondary School, Kilimanoor.
On the first day, we reported at 8:45 AM, submitted the necessary documents including our letter and attendance to the Principal-in-charge, and were warmly welcomed. We were introduced to our mentor teacher, who oriented us regarding the school's discipline, schedule, and academic environment. This marks the beginning of our journey toward becoming professionally competent and reflective educators.
By 9:00 a.m., the school prayer and thought for the day were completed, after which classes for the Higher Secondary section commenced.
First Day Practice Teaching Report – Plus One Commerce (Business Studies)
Today was my first day of practice teaching. I was allotted to Class XI Commerce (C1) for handling Business Studies.
✨ I gave a brief introduction to Chapter 3 of the textbook.
✨ The aim was to familiarize students with the basic idea of the topic and create interest.
✨After the introduction, I conducted a short interaction session related to general commerce concepts, to engage the students and assess their previous knowledge.
It was an introductory session, and the students responded positively. The atmosphere was encouraging, and it helped me build rapport with the class.
After having our lunch, our Mentor teacher spoke to us about various competitive examinations related to the commerce field. She also emphasized the value of the teaching profession and described it as a noble and respectful career path.
In the evening, we had a brief discussion on preparing PowerPoint presentations and notes, which gave us clarity and confidence in content preparation. After that, we went to the principal’s room to sign the afternoon register. By 4:30 p.m., the national anthem was sung by the students, and by 4:45 p.m., we left for home.
The first day of our teaching practice laid a strong foundation filled with learning, reflection, and inspiration. With positive interactions, professional guidance, and student engagement, it marked the start of our transformation into dedicated and compassionate educators.
"With the first step taken, a teacher’s journey begins — rooted in purpose, driven by passion, and destined to inspire."
