Schoolyard - Stories The fifth week stood out with learning, responsibility, and national spirit.”
The week from 11th to 15th August was active in both studies and other activities.
This week was filled with emotions as our C1 class teacher, Rahul Sir, got transferred from GHSS Kilimanur to Government Girls HSS, Mitrumala. I witnessed the deep bond between teacher and students—the tears, the smiles, the unspoken love. It showed me how much a teacher means in the lives of children, not just through lessons, but through the heart they leave behind.
The timetable for the Plus One First Terminal Examinations was issued, and I got the chance to read it in the Plus two C2 class. Students wrote down the exam dates, and I encouraged them to plan their studies properly. In plus one , my classes, I helped students revise the third chapter, explained important points, and cleared their doubts. I also conducted small question–answer sessions, oral quizzes, and group discussions to make revision more interesting. During substitution hours, I used the time for quick revision and exam-related discussions. Apart from teaching, I also helped teachers with exam duties like preparing portions, correcting papers, and guiding students. These duties gave me a better idea about the school’s exam system and improved my role as a trainee teacher.
This week also had Parent–Teacher Association meetings. Separate meetings were held for each Plus One class, where parents got updates about their children. Later, a common school-level PTA was also conducted, where matters like attendance, discipline, and exam preparation were discussed. I understood how teacher–parent cooperation helps students perform better.
Preparations for Independence Day gave a festive spirit to the school. NSS, NCC, SPC, Rangers, and Rovers students practiced actively for the parade. The school parliament election was also held this week. On the day before, a “Meet the Candidate” programme was conducted, and on the next day the election was done in a peaceful and disciplined manner. Students took part seriously, showing a real democratic spirit.
The week ended with the Independence Day celebration on 15th August. The day began with a special assembly and flag hoisting, followed by the parade and cultural programmes. The whole school joined together, showing unity and patriotism.
In short, the week gave me many useful experiences. I could help students in their exam preparation, support teachers in exam work, and also be part of the school’s important events. It was a week that combined both learning and celebrations.
A meaningful week that joined together exams, elections, and Independence Day celebrations.
